Maria Dunn is the Director of Administration at MyOrthodontist. She has worked there for more than a decade and manages the Cloud 9 integration and training. The group recently added Cloud 9 Connect, a patient engagement solution.

“I think that Cloud 9 Connect is an absolute game-changer,” she said. “The real-time patient communication, seamless appointment reminders, and the two-way texting feature have revolutionized our workflow.”

 

Creating Convenience Through Digitization

The group also integrated Cloud 9 Signature, which offers customizable online forms, including consent forms, health histories, COVID-19 questionnaires, HIPAA compliance, payment options, and appointment report cards. Patients can conveniently complete these forms on their phones, tablets, or desktop computers. Once submitted, Cloud 9 Signature automatically uploads the forms into the patient’s digital account, complete with the responsible party’s signature.

 


“Taking things paperless has made a huge difference operationally,” said Lyndsay Luca, MyOrthodontist’s Director of Operations. “Being able to digitally create contracts and email them to patients right through Cloud 9 has saved us a lot of time — and ink,” she laughed.

“Cloud 9 has made so many things easier. For example, it has AutoPay, which gives us the ability to have a payment method and a backup method on file, and the patient can choose the date they want to have the automated withdrawal made,” said Ms. Luca.

 

Accessing Patient Data Any Time from Anywhere

Cloud 9’s cloud-based practice management system enables orthodontists to review patient data 24/7, whether they are at home, traveling between multiple practices, or on vacation.

“I travel a lot and spend my summers in Colorado. Cloud 9 allows me to log in remotely, update patient charts, and work on cases,” shared Dr. Moray. “We also used to have an in-house call center and those employees worked from home. We would never have been able to do that without a cloud-based system.”

Dr. Moray said server-based platforms are cumbersome. Before Cloud 9, MyOrthodontist used remote desktop services that still required every office to have an on-premises imaging server. The practices couldn’t send big files without causing everything to slow down, and the remote desktop connection was unreliable. The servers were synched only once a day, at midnight, which made it hard for team members to view images from different workstations. Cloud 9 eliminated all of those problems.

“Cloud 9 has filled a huge gap. We looked at other solutions, and even switched at one point to another vendor, but realized immediately that Cloud 9 was better and came right back,” Dr. Moray said.

“It claimed to have more bells and whistles, but it was awful,” confirmed Ms. Luca. “The functionality was not what they promised. We switched right back to Cloud 9.”

Elevating Patient Care with Innovation and Dedication

The team at MyOrthodontist is busy, helping hundreds of patients each week across all of their locations. It needs a practice management system that is easy to use, and intuitive for new team members.

“Cloud 9 is easy to learn. It’s very user-friendly and self-explanatory. When we have a new team member, we just have to show them what to do once, and they get it,” said Ms. Luca.

The entire staff is devoted to helping people smile — both in their offices and in their communities. Their team members have dedicated days for visiting nursing homes, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, or delivering meals for families whose loved ones are in the hospital.
 

They also donate part of their proceeds to summer camps for underprivileged children, and the dental team used to run a summer camp in addition to their regular jobs. Dr. Moray is a triathlete, and he would teach the kids how to swim and ride bikes, and then they would participate in a kids’ triathlon. It taught them self-confidence and the smiles would go from ear to ear.
